You can actually go on safari in Maputo
Many people in Maputo still speak about safari as if it is something far away, something that starts only after crossing borders or driving for many long hours. But here is the surprise, Maputo has its own wild side. Real wild side with Elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, antelopes, birds, lakes, forest, dunes and the ocean — all inside the Maputo National Park.
This is not the kind of place you visit only to tick a box. You enter with city noise still in your head, and after some minutes the road becomes sand, the phone becomes less important, and your eyes start searching between the trees. Then suddenly, there it is: an elephant moving quietly, as if the whole park belongs to him.
Of course, this is not Kruger. And that is exactly the charm. You should not come here expecting to see lions around every corner or leopards crossing the road like in wildlife documentaries. Big predators are not part of the story here. The magic is different, that rare combination of safari and the sea.
And yes, you can sleep inside the park
This is probably the best part. You can go for the animals, but stay for the night. The park has accommodation options ranging from campsites to beautiful lodges facing the ocean. Places such as Membene Beach Lodge, Anvil Bay Luxury Ecolodge and Milibangalala Luxury Resort make the experience feel like two trips in one.
Conservation fee at the entrance
| Visitor category | Conservation fee per person |

| National citizens — Mozambique | MZN 400,00 |
| SADC citizens | MZN 600,00 |
| International citizens | MZN 900,00 |
For many people, this is the kind of trip they keep postponing because they think it must be expensive, complicated or too far. But the truth is simple, this wild experience is already here. Close enough for a weekend. Beautiful enough for a holiday. A 4X4 car is more ideal inside the Park.
